Why This Exists
Dispatch plans change constantly — plant delays, traffic, truck availability, priority shifts.
Previously, making small adjustments often meant rebuilding entire assignments or reworking schedules.
Flexible Loads gives dispatchers:
- Full visibility into every load
- Control to adjust sequencing without recreating assignments
- Confidence that drivers stay moving even when plans change
What Flexible Loads Does
Flexible Loads changes how loads are displayed and managed for a hauler’s day:
- Shows each load individually instead of hiding them behind assignments
- Automatically schedules load arrival times based on sequence
- Allows dispatchers to reorder individual loads across assignments for the same hauler
- Updates drivers automatically when their next load changes
- Logs all changes for visibility and audit purposes
What You’ll See on the Dispatch Screen
Individual Load Visibility
- Assignments expand to show each load as its own card
- Each load displays:
- Estimated Origin Arrival Time (EOAT)
- Status (Scheduled, In Progress, Completed, etc.)
- Driver / Truck / Company info
- Loads remain visually grouped by assignment using color indicators
Hauler Load Stack
When viewing a hauler in Fleet View, loads appear in sequence:
- Completed loads
- The active (in-progress) load
- Upcoming flexible loads
- Stay-On assignments (shown separately)
This gives a clear picture of the hauler’s entire day at a glance.
How to Use Flexible Loads
Create Assignments and Loads
- Create Dispatch Orders as usual
- Drag and drop a hauler to create assignments
- Loads are automatically created and attached to the assignment
- All loads immediately appear under the assignment
No additional steps required.
View and Manage Loads
- Expand an assignment from the Dispatch Order or Fleet view
- Review each load’s status and arrival time
- Monitor progress load by load instead of assignment by assignment
Adjust a Load’s Arrival Time
Use this when a single load needs to shift without reworking the entire plan.
- Expand the assignment
- Hover over a load and open the action menu
- Select Edit Origin Arrival Time
- Enter a new future time
What happens next
- The selected load updates
- All following loads automatically adjust to maintain sequence
- The change is recorded in the load history
Reorder Loads for a Hauler
Use this when priorities change or assignments need to be interleaved.
- Open the hauler in Fleet View
- Expand to view all assigned loads
- Drag a load to a new position in the sequence
- Dragging a single load moves only that load
- Dragging an assignment handle moves all of its loads (if not started)
- Review the preview indicator
- Confirm or undo the change
What happens next
- Arrival times automatically recalculate
- Drivers are notified only if their next load changes
- No manual re-punching is required
What Drivers Experience
Dispatchers don’t need to manage this manually, but it helps to know:
- Drivers will not experience additional clicks or new work flows.
- Drivers see their full load sequence in the Drive app
- Loads remain grouped and color-coded by assignment
- Drivers work loads in order
- If the next load changes, the driver receives a “Schedule Updated” notification
- Re-stacking does not interrupt an active load
Important Things to Know
- Stay-On assignments:
- Cannot be mixed with other loads
- Cannot be reordered
- Display scheduled start time instead of EOAT
- Hourly jobs are not supported
- All sequencing and time changes are logged automatically
- Flexible Loads applies only to Ton and Load job types
Common Questions
-
Can I reorder loads before the hauler accepts assignments?
Yes. Loads can be reordered before acceptance. -
Will drivers get notified every time I move a load?
No. Notifications are sent only when the next upcoming load changes. -
What if I make a mistake?
Use the undo option immediately or drag loads back to the correct position. -
Do arrival times still follow cycle time and stagger rules?
Yes. The system recalculates times automatically after any change. -
What is the minimum mobile app version haulers should use for Flexible loads?
Haulers should be a minimum of app version 3.1.1.
