This article will explain how TRUX works for truck owners and independent owner-operators, from the moment you accept a job all the way through the moment you get your check in the mail. If you've already signed up using the app and you're ready to accept your first job, read on to find out how it all works.
If you haven't downloaded TURX Drive and signed up for an account yet, you'll need to do that first before you can accept any jobs. Read this article to find out how.
Before the Job
View Job Details: As soon as you accept a job, it will appear on the Schedule screen on the My Jobs tab. All your upcoming jobs will appear on this screen, and you can tap on any of them to view important details about each job, including material, truck type, start time, start location, end location (if provided), and instructions from the contractor.
Real-time Updates: If anything changes for a job you've accepted, we'll text you immediately to let you know. We'll also send you reminders about upcoming jobs so you know when and where to go. The contractor can reach you by phone with any additional information you may need before you arrive on the day of the job.
Cancellations: If you need to cancel a job you've already accepted, you can go to the Schedule screen, select the job you want to cancel, and tap CANCEL JOB. Make sure you familiarize yourself with our hauler cancellation policy. If the contractor cancels a job you've accepted for any reason, we'll send you an immediate text alert letting you know. If the contractor cancels less than 2 hours before the job is scheduled to begin, TRUX guarantees you a 4-hour minimum trucker payment.
We strongly discourage canceling jobs except in the case of emergencies or breakdowns/equipment problems. We keep track of every trucker cancellation and reserve the right to suspend your account if you frequently cancel jobs at the last minute.
During the Job
On the day of the job, make sure to arrive at the start location on time. Jobs you find through TRUX are just like jobs you find over the phone or in-person: contractors are depending on you to keep their job site running smoothly. We reserve the right to suspend your account if you frequently arrive late or unprepared.
Punch In/Punch Out: When you arrive at the start location on the day of the job and are ready to begin work for the day, tap the orange PUNCH IN button in the app (this button will appear 5 minutes before the job's scheduled start time). When you are released by the contractor at the end of the day, tap the PUNCH OUT button in the app (this button appears as soon as you punch in). Failure to punch in and punch out accurately can result in delayed payments or disputes with the contractor.
Call the Contractor: If you need to reach the contractor for any reason, you can tap the CUSTOMER button on the Job Details screen while you are punched in.
After the Job
After you punch out at the end of the day, your work is most likely done. We automatically track all timesheets, generate invoices, and collect payment from the contractor for you!
Job Summary: You can see a full history of every job you've ever completed on the Earnings screen. You'll find all of the job details, including the contractor you worked for, along with the exact punch-in time, punch-out time, and total earnings from your day of work.
Certified Payroll: If the job you worked on was a prevailing wage job, we'll need you to fill out the required paperwork before we can release your payment. As soon as you punch out, you will receive an email with links to each of the documents you need to complete. These documents will already be pre-filled with most of the required information. All you need to do is review the information, fix anything missing or incorrect, and e-sign your name!
Payment: TRUX pays you weekly for work completed on the TRUX. Read more about how and when you will receive payment.
Payment may be delayed if the contractor disputes your time on the clock (make sure to punch in and out accurately) or if we do not receive your certified payroll paperwork on time (make sure to check your email and complete each required document).
Now that you know how TRUX works, you are ready to accept your first job! Visit the Jobs screen to start accepting jobs today.
