Cost codes can provide Trux customers a great way to accurately track and report project expenses and activities. However, there are times when haulers may forget to select a cost code or fail to correctly change cost codes. Trux allows for customers to edit the cost code associated with a shift before it is closed.
Editing a Cost Code
Opening the Editing Menu
After selecting a shift you would like to edit the associated cost code for, use the three dot menu on the shift drawer to select “Edit Cost Code” or the Edit symbol next to current cost code associated with the shift. Note, that if no cost code is associated with the shift you will only be able to edit the cost code using the three dot menu.

Selecting a New Cost Code
When you open the edit cost code window, you are able to select another cost code from the drop down menu. You are able to select any cost code associated with the account. After selecting the cost code click confirm.
Removing a Cost Code
When you open the edit cost code window, you are able to remove the associated cost code with the shift by clicking the X next to the displayed cost code.
Auditing Cost Code Changes
The changes in cost codes associated with a shift are logging in the Activity Log of a shift. The log includes the editor, the date and time of the change, and the old and new value of the cost code.
Splitting a Shift
If a hauler fails to change cost codes you may need to create a shift in the past to ensure the time and loads are correctly captured against each cost code.
- Create a shift on the same day of the existing shift
- Assign the same hauler
- Add in start and end times for the shift based on when the cost code should have been changed
- Add any associated loads to the new shift
- Remove any associated loads from the existing shift
- Edit the cost code for the new shift
- Approve the shift
