Overview
The Effective Date (Start Date) field in the Add/Edit Product form lets you schedule tier prices to take effect on a specific future date. This means you can set up upcoming price changes in advance, without disrupting your current active pricing, so that prices automatically become active on the date you choose.
Where to Find It
Navigate to Location → Products tab.
The Products tab now includes two key additions:
- Assigned column — toggle this on to show only products assigned to the selected location.
- Tier Prices (Start Date) column — hover over any product row in this column to see the currently active tier prices and their effective start dates.
Adding a New Product with Tier Pricing
- Click + Add Product to open the Create Product modal.
- Fill in the required product fields:
- External ID (required)
- Name (required)
- Material Unit (required)
- SKU ID, Safety Data Sheet URL, Description, and Comment (optional)
- To add tier pricing, enable Add to this location and then click Add Tier Prices.
- In the Add Tier Prices section, complete fill out each pricing Tier.
Click Save Changes — the button is only enabled once all required fields are valid.
Note: If you select a date that already has tier pricing set up, you'll see the message: "A tier price has already been set for the selected date. Please choose a different date or update the existing prices."
- Click Create Product to finalize the product.
To discard your changes at any point, click Cancel.
Editing an Existing Product's Tier Pricing
You can access the Edit Product screen two ways:
- Click on the Tier Prices value in the product list, or
- Click the three-dot menu (⋯) on the product row and select Edit.
Inside the Edit Product screen:
- The top section displays the product details (External ID, Name, Material Unit, etc.).
- The bottom section displays pricing information:
- Active pricing is shown in read-only mode — it cannot be edited directly.
- Future-dated pricing entries are listed below the active price and can be edited or deleted.
To schedule a new future price, click + Add Tier Prices and follow the same steps as above.
Click Save Changes when done.
Key Rules & Validations
- Only future dates can be selected for new tier prices. Past dates are disabled in the date picker.
- All tier fields are required — you cannot save with any field blank.
- Only positive values are accepted, with up to 2 decimal places.
- Duplicate dates are not allowed — if a price already exists for the date you pick, you'll be prompted to choose a different date or update the existing entry.
- Active (current) pricing is read-only — only future pricing rows can be modified or deleted.
